Mini & Maxi

Mini & Maxi

The result of my #isewlation: both a pair of short and full length joggers! The patterns that I used both are from Blank Slate Patterns: the Skye Joggers and Barton Shorts. Both patterns I already used before, so I mostly knew what to expect. That really is an advantage of reusing a tried and true pattern. Now I have two super comfortable pairs of chill pants in a cool print! One for summer, one for the rest of the year.

Happy Sew Year! – 2019 recap

Happy Sew Year! – 2019 recap

So, I don’t know about you, but my vacation is already over! I have been free for a week and a half and am going back to work today. At the start of the Christmas holidays I always have all kinds of plans, which mostly don’t work out as I imagined, because I was not as free as I thought, haha! Recognizable right? Yet the start of a new year is a good moment to look back. What has happened in the past year and what are the plans for the coming period? I found it so nice to see my overview from last year that I decided to make…

Happy Sew Year! – 2018 recap

Happy Sew Year! – 2018 recap

It’s the end of the year! (Obviously, haha) That can only mean one thing: time for lists and looking back. 2018 was the year for me to start a blog. Although I’m not always posting regularly, and not solely post on my own blog, I do really enjoy it. I hope you do too! Because I love overviews I’ve made a list of the items I’ve created this year. To also be able to draw a lesson here, I tried to list the top 5 items I’ve worn most. Hoping this will help me to be able to decide on forehand what I’ll make and eventually actually wear! Happy new…

Fake jumpsuit gone wrong

Fake jumpsuit gone wrong

Imagine… At the moment I’m writing this I’m at a campsite in France, using my phone with a keyboard attached to it. I’m wearing my newest handmade item: this blushing cross-over top. Today we went sightseeing in a small town nearby, and meanwhile took some pictures of my top. This top was actually meant to be half of a fake (two part) jumpsuit. It still is, but I don’t think I’ll ever wear it as a jumpsuit, haha. Here’s why. It all started with me liking jumpsuits. I’ve always liked jumpsuits, they are often super cute and I like the look. But to me they are just not practical…

Catalina – A Summery Maxi Dress

Catalina – A Summery Maxi Dress

Read all the way down this blog to find out how you can win this pattern! In summertime we need dresses right?! Dresses that suit several different occasions all at the same time. Well, recently I came to the conclusion that for myself I particularly like the kind of dresses that are flowy, fun and flattering but not too sexy or revealing, just feminine. I’m getting older I guess…;) In my daily life I don’t often wear dresses, since they are not practical on my job (need to cover my legs in the laboratory). For me to wear a dress on the few occasions I can, a dress should check…

Why I need more Skye joggers

Why I need more Skye joggers

You have probably seen the blog about my first pair of Skye joggers. Those were a huge victory for me, because they were my first well-fitting handmade trousers and so they slightly eased my fear of pants! Well, I don’t often use sewing patterns more than once (although I tend to more and more lately), but recently I’ve made myself another pair of Skye joggers. Of course, partly because I really liked my first pair. But most importantly, because that pair went missing! In February I went on a city trip to Prague with my former students association. Although it was super super cold, I really had a great time….

I conquered my fears! – Skye Joggers

I conquered my fears! – Skye Joggers

I have some good news today: I conquered one of my biggest fears! The fear of making pants. After two not too well experiences with making pants it was about time for success. Third time’s a charm they say and indeed: it totally worked out just right this time. It all started with Blank Slate Patterns calling for sewing pattern testers. I never tested a pattern before but am always open to new experiences. The pattern to be tested were joggers. A while ago I already concluded that I was in need of new ‘chill pants’ since my current pair are reeaaally emaciated, worn out, and at least 5 years…
