Heart Pouch for Mother’s Day

Heart Pouch for Mother’s Day

Happy Mother’s Day everyone! A hug to the people who don’t (anymore) have their mother close by. For all other people: enjoy each other today! Have a nice video call, door-distance-wave-visit, and spoil her with a gift. A handmade gift. Because what radiates more love than something you have invested time and care in?! I also started making something for my mom immediately after seeing this super cute pattern on the Pattydoo blog. I got really excited, dug in my closet and found all the materials there. You only need (skai) leather, a zipper, ring, and wonder tape! I didn’t have wonder tape myself so i tried fabric glue, which…

Visible Mending – Jeans Rescue

Visible Mending – Jeans Rescue

It’s Fashion Revolution Week this week! But working on a more sustainable fashion industry we can do all year round. Things I try to pay attention to are, amongst others: 1) Holes / mistakes are easily repaired, 2) Wear pants until they are really worn out and fall apart. With those points, we come to my subject of today. I wanted to try visible mending for a long time already, and this was the time! I researched how to approach this and started off. In this blog I explain to you how I gave this jeans second life by embroidering fabric and plusses on it. Now I even think it looks so cool that I also want to do it on new jeans, haha!

Baby Burrito (free pattern)

Baby Burrito (free pattern)

Here’s another blog from me in the category of maternity gifts! This time I opted for a towel / burrito wrap for babies. It comes down to being two square layers of fabric, with a sort of hood at one corner. The raw edges are finished with contrasting bias tape. The method I used I mainly retrieved from madebymblog.blogspot.nl. But that blog has been removed (and it was Dutch), so here I’ll explain exactly what I did. The possibilities to vary are endless! What would you make?

Happy Sew Year! – 2018 recap

Happy Sew Year! – 2018 recap

It’s the end of the year! (Obviously, haha) That can only mean one thing: time for lists and looking back. 2018 was the year for me to start a blog. Although I’m not always posting regularly, and not solely post on my own blog, I do really enjoy it. I hope you do too! Because I love overviews I’ve made a list of the items I’ve created this year. To also be able to draw a lesson here, I tried to list the top 5 items I’ve worn most. Hoping this will help me to be able to decide on forehand what I’ll make and eventually actually wear! Happy new…

My contribution to The Refashioners 2018

My contribution to The Refashioners 2018

Hi there! This year I’m joining The Refashioners 2018 community challenge! This is an online challenge hosted by Makery. We’re challenged to refashion unloved or thrifted garments into something new, to show and experience ”how cool, creative and ecologically and ethically sound refashioning old garments actually is!” I could not let that opportunity slip (especially after last week’s blog;))! I started out with this pink velvet knitted cardigan I had in my closet. I bought it at the end of last winter’s season. I don’t really know why I bought it, but probably just because it was super soft, one of my favorite colors and only €5, oops… It was…

Tutorial – How to apply woven ribbon to a stretch garment

Tutorial – How to apply woven ribbon to a stretch garment

Currently there’s a huge trend going on with stripes. You have probably noticed, ‘cause in every shop and every street you see clothes that have those sports stripes, striped elastic, striped ribbons on the sides, or striped cuffs. So when I was thinking of a way to brighten up my simple new summer dress (from last blog), this was the way to go. I decided to attach such a striped ribbon to the side & shoulder seams. The dress itself was namely a little too plain and boring to me. Adding such detail totally turned it into something modern and interesting! When I had bought the ribbon I thought it…

Tea cozies (Free pattern & instructions)

Tea cozies (Free pattern & instructions)

Do you also love cake and pastries? If I had to, I could eat them aaaall day, omnomm! But it’s better if I don’t because they seem to tighten your clothes. And it would be a pity if I would have to throw away all the garments I have made over the past years! Therefore I love the concept of a high tea. You just pick one moment to eat a deadly amount of all the cake, chocolates, sandwiches and pie you can get, and afterwards all you have to do is make sure you don’t feel guilty about it. An older friend of mine had the courage to start…
