Cloud nine (free pattern)

Cloud nine (free pattern)

Fabric markets, you know the phenomenon: a super dangerous place for sewists to go. And still I let myself be seduced to go again and again. Mainly because they often offer better deals than regular fabric stores. So the minute I saw an advertisement for a fabric remnant sale, I knew I had to go there! I was just a poor student, this was the perfect time and place to supplement my fabric stash. The company that organized the sale was Megastoffen which is located in Enschede (The Netherlands). Once every while they sell all their fabric remnants for just €1 each. Of course it is then your own responsibility to check the fabric…

ABBA kimonos (free patterns)

ABBA kimonos (free patterns)

About one year ago I received a message from a musician I know. She sings in an ABBA tribute band and wondered if I could make them two costumes. I am always in for a good challenge, so I started figuring what they wanted and whether I could make that. Now, more than one year later, my creations finally shined on stage! Time to tell you what I made. The question was if I could make two kimonos that looked like the ones ABBA wore back in the days. Graphic Art – Throwback Knipster Competition

Graphic Art – Throwback Knipster Competition

Last year I competed in a Dutch sewing competition called ”Knipster”. In my Knipster era I dedicated a lot of time sewing,  created a lot of clothes, acquired a lot of experience, and obtained a bunch of nice pictures. The Knipster Sewing competition kicked off with the theme ”Graphic Art”. This made me think about bold, black and white prints and angular shapes. It was one of the hardest themes…

Baby onesie (free pattern)

Baby onesie (free pattern)

Every time I walk through a fabric store I see aaall those cute children’s fabrics. These are always so cheerful and cuddly! I have a hard time resisting all the sweet motifs, but buying them for myself is a little over my head. I like a nice print, but I’m trying to have a rather mature appearance. That’s why in fabric stores you hear me call ”I want a baby!” quite often! Just to have a valid reason to sew small sweet baby clothes, haha. Well, you might have noticed that I do not (yet?) have kids. So when a friend of mine announced to be pregnant I rushed to Harry, the…

Tea cozies (Free pattern & instructions)

Tea cozies (Free pattern & instructions)

Do you also love cake and pastries? If I had to, I could eat them aaaall day, omnomm! But it’s better if I don’t because they seem to tighten your clothes. And it would be a pity if I would have to throw away all the garments I have made over the past years! Therefore I love the concept of a high tea. You just pick one moment to eat a deadly amount of all the cake, chocolates, sandwiches and pie you can get, and afterwards all you have to do is make sure you don’t feel guilty about it. An older friend of mine had the courage to start…
