Baby Burrito (free pattern)

Baby Burrito (free pattern)

Here’s another blog from me in the category of maternity gifts! This time I opted for a towel / burrito wrap for babies. It comes down to being two square layers of fabric, with a sort of hood at one corner. The raw edges are finished with contrasting bias tape. The method I used I mainly retrieved from madebymblog.blogspot.nl. But that blog has been removed (and it was Dutch), so here I’ll explain exactly what I did. The possibilities to vary are endless! What would you make?

Project maternity present (free pattern)

Project maternity present (free pattern)

It is painful to admit, but by now I have reached a phase in life in which more and more of my friends are having babies. Of course that’s great, so I like to celebrate with them! And I also like to celebrate that from behind my sewing machine. Because what could be nicer than gifting something handmade?! So when I heard that several people around me were expecting babies all at the same time, I decided it was time for action. I thought it would be more efficient to do some batch sewing. Sewing the same item for several children at once, is often faster than when you go…

Happy Sew Year! – 2019 recap

Happy Sew Year! – 2019 recap

So, I don’t know about you, but my vacation is already over! I have been free for a week and a half and am going back to work today. At the start of the Christmas holidays I always have all kinds of plans, which mostly don’t work out as I imagined, because I was not as free as I thought, haha! Recognizable right? Yet the start of a new year is a good moment to look back. What has happened in the past year and what are the plans for the coming period? I found it so nice to see my overview from last year that I decided to make…

Happy Sew Year! – 2018 recap

Happy Sew Year! – 2018 recap

It’s the end of the year! (Obviously, haha) That can only mean one thing: time for lists and looking back. 2018 was the year for me to start a blog. Although I’m not always posting regularly, and not solely post on my own blog, I do really enjoy it. I hope you do too! Because I love overviews I’ve made a list of the items I’ve created this year. To also be able to draw a lesson here, I tried to list the top 5 items I’ve worn most. Hoping this will help me to be able to decide on forehand what I’ll make and eventually actually wear! Happy new…

The Pros and Cons on Sewing 56 Baby Pants

The Pros and Cons on Sewing 56 Baby Pants

Last year I have been working on a huge sewing project! It all started when Inge, the owner of Tiny Biscuits asked me to make a batch of baby pants. Tiny Bisuits is a Dutch webshop that sells all kinds of super cute baby stuff and some home decoration and postcards. She also wanted to start selling baby clothes, and there I came in. The aim was to make nine sizes in three colours, times two copies. While I knew how to calculate the number of pants that would be, I did not fully understand what I agreed to. I had never done anything like this before but decided to…

Baby onesie (free pattern)

Baby onesie (free pattern)

Every time I walk through a fabric store I see aaall those cute children’s fabrics. These are always so cheerful and cuddly! I have a hard time resisting all the sweet motifs, but buying them for myself is a little over my head. I like a nice print, but I’m trying to have a rather mature appearance. That’s why in fabric stores you hear me call ”I want a baby!” quite often! Just to have a valid reason to sew small sweet baby clothes, haha. Well, you might have noticed that I do not (yet?) have kids. So when a friend of mine announced to be pregnant I rushed to Harry, the…
